I was intrigued to watch a set of tilt-shift stop motion videos, where the real world is made to look like a scale model.

I don't have a tilt-shift lens for my camera, so I decided to have a go at the relatively simple Photoshop process required to fake the images. Most of my experiments failed - I have a tendency to take shots looking up (and you really need to be looking down to get the most model-like effect) , or to use a lot of zoom for close-up shots (so have very little depth of field anyway).

This one, however, worked quite well.

Ah, that's useful - I'd seen references to fake tilt-shifting recently and wondered what it was. Now to try some!

although my version of PhotoShop doesn't have a lens blur filter, which is part of the process. It has other kinds of blur though.

wow. just when i think the tilt/shift thing is dead dead dead deader than last week's turkey, here come these videos. thanks for posting them! it makes me want to buy a tilt shift lens now. or create some very time consuming photoshop action that takes 400 photos and tilt/shifts them.....
