...or at least it doesn't like over an inch in half an hour or so. Yesterday's thunderstorms managed to significantly disrupt the transport infrastructure. I'd experimented with taking the Croydon tram back from Bromley and ended up getting stuck at Wimbledon, as the District Line had been struck by lightning - frying the signalling. But at least I was able to get home, unlike [livejournal.com profile] feorag who was on a train to Luton Airport that was going precisely nowhere.

Luckily [livejournal.com profile] autopope was able to change her ticket, and we ended up with an unexpected evening visitor. It was a good excuse to try out the new food delivery menu that had just dropped through our letter box - something that promised to be a decent looking San Francisco-style burrito vendor. It was. So Mexifresh in Sheen now ends up on our regulars list - 20 minutes delivery and huge burritos made with organic ingredients for a very reasonable price. And it's vegetarian friendly.

Ah, but the trains in London stop working if someone spits on the line, or the temperature falls a tenth of a degree below zero, or if the wind's in the wrong direction, there's always some excuse. Took me two and a half hours to get home as opposed to just an hour. Thameslink are still buggered. I suspect some bean-counter somewhere decided to improve the shareholder dividend by skimping on drainage and drain maintenance work just like Railtrack skimp on other maintenance work. Crap drains, the lines flood, and we discover just what a bad idea a third rail system is during poor weather!

I'd love to wake up one morning this winter and find there'd been a foot of snow covering all of London. Proper snow, like we used to get up north, just to watch the entire city transport infrastructure grind to a halt. Preferably on a Monday, so there'd be some time off work...!
