All about me me meme

This one sounds fun:

(Based on what you know of me...)
Please recommend to me:

1. A book
2. An author
3. A song
4. A movie
5. An artist/band
6. A CD
7. A website
8. A new LJ friend

Given that my sole knowledge of you is based on your journal, this is going to be tricky. Still, it's a nice meme, so I'll give it a go...

A book
Hrm. I don't read a whole lot of sci-fi, and you seem to have read everything going, but I think you might rather enjoy a kids book called The Phantom Tollbooth, unless you've read it already, of course.

An author
Blergle... I don't read obscure books. It's obvious, but have you read Tom Clancy's stuff? It may not be intellectually challenging stuff, but he does tell good stories.

A song
"Every OS Sucks" by Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie

A movie
Don't watch enough films to suggest anything.

An artist/band
Eep... there really isn't enough crossover between our musical tastes. You might enjoy the output of the Cambridge band Maker, but they've split and you'll have a hard time getting hold of their CD, Objective Perspective. Can that be the CD as well?

A website
Have a look at http://www.pvponline.com.

You'd probably get on with [livejournal.com profile] narenek.

I cannot enthuse enough about The Phantom Tollbooth. And I agree that if [livejournal.com profile] sbisson hasn't already read it (see comments passim), it might really appeal to him.

Oh it's a lovely book - I had to get the recent reprint as I'd lost my copy.

In a similar vein I can recommend Gerald Durrell's The Talking Parcel and Julie Andrews' (yes, her!) The Last Of The Really Great Wangdoodles.

Hello, hope you find the recommendation worthwhile.

I'm now wondering if we've rubbed shoulders at a previous Picocon or something.

It seems likely!
