Possibly some of my favourite Photoshoppery of recent times, in the shape of the wonderful Flickr set "Barack Obama looking at awesome things".

As the artist says:
In response to NYMag.com's clearly doctored A History of Obama Feigning Interest in Mundane Things slideshow, I've decided to reveal the truth, using next-gen image decoding software I call Photoshop.

Call me a whistleblower if you want, but the truth is the truth. President Obama spends most of his time looking at awesome things.
Oh yes. Awesome things. Because, you know, if anyone was, POTUS would be...

I've been indulging in a little photoshoppery, and have made a couple of Ashes to Ashes icons from episode one screen captures - feel free to grab them and reuse.

Ah... The Eighties. That music, those cars...

Anyway, enough nostalgia, here are the images:

Processed Shuttle

I'm writing a Photoshop tutorial at the moment, and one of my intermediate images came out as though it had fallen from an alternate 1950s Russia, with that stylised propaganda poster look I like.

One bad pun and a dose of Jennifer Crusie (fan club motto: "Got Snark") led to this icon I made for [livejournal.com profile] marypcb over the weekend.

.

Strikes me as a good thing - the Moomins and fun genre fiction, along with a chance to hone my photoshoppery. For those interested, the book in the Snorkmaiden's hand is What The Lady Wants, which mixes noir and romance in the manner that Cruisie later explored again in Fast Women.

In the mean time I have taken advantage of a spare Amazon voucher to pre-order the upcoming collaboration with Bob Mayer, Agnes and the Hitman. Don't Look Down was such great fun, I'm looking forward to their authorial rematch...

From the fine folk at Lynda.com at PMA 2007:

A black shirt, with the slogan "What happens in Vegas, gets Photoshopped out".

I managed to acquire one for me, and one for [livejournal.com profile] marypcb. Not that I'll do much photoshoppery on my Vegas shots - the city and its desert surroundings are just too photogenic. Well, apart from using some of the newer graph cut-based stitching tools to build artefact-free panoramas.

In related news, my hefty Photoshop CS3 tutorial is in the latest copy of Computer Arts Projects. Rush out and buy the camo-wrapped issue now, and be ready for March 27th
