Playing with technology

One of the advantages of having a sideline career as a technology writer is that you get access to all sorts of new tools. So I started playing with something I'm not allowed to talk about until Tuesday, and tweaked myself a more apt minifig image...

I'm quite proud of the NTK T-shirt... I spent ages trying to get it right in Paintshop Pro - in the end this new piece of software (which rocks, just like the other tools in this family!) took only a few seconds to do the job. It also handled the rounded edges of the PDA really well, as well as making layers easy for a non-visual person like me. Way to go (company name deleted)!

Well, I can name it now, it's all over news.com - it was Macromedia's Fireworks MX. I really like what they're doing with all their new MX tools. Dreamweaver MX has to be the best web design tool I've seen, and I've seen a lot...

Flash MX

What do you think of Flash MX?

I've been using it for a few hours doing work I usually do with 5, not really experimenting with new tools. It seems not to have changed very much from 5, which I used extensively.

What new features do you like about it?

Well, it's a cut'n'paste'n'distort from the T-shirt images on the NTK site. What really annoys me is that I still can't find where I put the shirt in RL. I know it's in the bedroom somewhere...

I suppose I could have done a screen capture from Elite: The New Kind, but that would have been cheating...
