One Laptop Per Cat

Rupert came round for dinner last night, carrying with him one of ZDnet's little mesh of XOs. An interesting device, and easy to use once I'd worked out how to open the wee beastie...

Jeoffrey seemed interested too. Perhaps OLPC stands for One Laptop Per Cat.

One Laptop Per Cat

I suspect that this is a prime candidate for cat macrohood...

easy to use? we must be in parallel universes. The tablet mode didn't work because it's a pointer based interface but the navigation keys expect buttons so you have to unfold it, open an app and a document and fold it back up again. I haven't felt dead flesh keys like that since the Sinclair Spectrum, I couldn't work out how to delete a test document or close an application, if you close the lid it doesn't hibernate and overall I found it so simplistic it was confusing. Clearly, however, I am not the target audience...
