Microsoft has sneaked out a fix for the performance issues some Outlook 2007 users have been experiencing (as per this KB entry).

If you've got a large local mail store - which, to be honest, you should have if you're using Exchange and doing the sensible thing and running in cached Exchange mode - download and install the update ASAP. You should find Outlook quite a bit snappier.

Well worth pushing out to your users or supported sites.

Ah, Bishopper, you have so much to learn.

"Supported Sites", you say? Those are the ones where it really matters that it all works properly all the time, yes? These are the ones running Outlook 2003...

Anything with a 7 on the end is far too young. :)

Except Office 97, of course.

Agreed; Cached Exchange mode came in with 2003, and stability aside, for sites where there are users who can't cope with change the new Office 2007 UI is a bit of a hurdle too.

I have 2000 on the stepson's machine (which he doesn't use), 2002 on the Terminal Server (where cached mode isn't a requirement), and 2003 on the laptop. I might get 2007 on the new laptop in the summer... but I might not.

the performance hiccup hasn't been enough to stop us using Outlook 2007 for the last - coo, 18 months, I think. the colour-coded categories and To-Do Bar are just too useful. A year ago I installed the first version to fix the timezone problem in appointments. I tap my fingers at the performance sometimes but I wouldn't go back. And er, that's the only problem that I can blame on Outloook. YMMV of course but a tested data point.

Wading through the marketroid copy is just too much bother. This is the download link:
