Off to look for America

The taxi's due in 15 minutes, and then we're off to sunny California and the Worldcon. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up some WiFi in SF or San Jose, so I'll be blogging from the other side of the world...

[snigger] Hey simon, look on the side of your iBook -- no no the OTHER side... see that funny looking socket you never use? Looks like a Small Ethernet port? That d00d is called a Mo... a Mm.. a M..oh... Mod... [spit] a MODEM! Remember those funky things? We still use em up here!

I am looking at Expedia as I type this and [livejournal.com profile] elinor is pouting (and she has every damn right to, me flying off to San Fran while she has a proper job and two dogs to care for at home whereas I'm the househusband with no fucking job... I owe her bigtime on this) and worrying about having the energy to look after Galen and Bella, but I might just might be out there next week for a spiritual battery recharge... I prepare as we speak to worship at the mighty altar of the Espresso machine at People's Cafe...

Hope the flight for mary was a breeze.

the flight was really good; not much in the way of films and I didn't manage to get any sleep but it was a good flight and I got to see Greenland which is my castle at the back of the north wind... I've hardly been jetlagged at all until this evening - I'm wiped out but I think it's the much higher temperature here in san jose....
