What is it with [livejournal.com profile] gummitch's parties, me and serious limb infections?

I mean, I took all the precautions possible, even avoiding the tube completely. But here I am, two weeks later, having to go to Saturday emergency surgery, and ending up with a big box of hefty looking antibiotics. And all it took was one teensy weensy little horse fly. I put antiseptic on it at the time, and looked after it carefully, until I even thought the bite had cleared up. But on Thursday morning a huge red blotch atarted walking down my arm, in a rather disconcerting manner. The doctor at TecEd must have thought it was an allergic reaction, and gave me some sort of cream (between his English and my Spanish I'm surprised we got that far). However, while it dealt with the original swelling, it really didn't seem to be helping me get better. So I took the first opportunity to visit my doctors' practice to get another opinion... "Oooh", she said (starting the familiar diagnosis), "That's a nasty looking case of cellulitis".

Next time I go to one of [livejournal.com profile] gummitch's parties I'm going to wear as much protective gear as possible. Or else get my amputations in early...

Boy Simon, you sure know how to party! So are you generally allergic to horseflys? Hugs. Well, do take care of yourself and here are a few suggestions:

1) lots of vitamin C to boost your immune system
2) Co Q 10 and/or Bromalain taken *between* meals and at bedtime help decrease inflammation (of any type - this is also good to take for knee and joint injuries), ease allergic reactions, and are good for cellulitis
3) take a good quality acidopholus during, and in double doses after you finish, your antibiotics. This is essential for ongoing immune health, as antibiotics kill all the friendly bacteria needed for good digestion, vitamin absorption, for healthy skin, good sleep, and energy.
4) saccharomyces boulardii - this is fairly unknown, but totally harmless type of yeast which should be taken concurrently with antibiotics. What it does is fill up your intestines with this neutral yeast, so that candida and other pathogenic bacteria cannot take hold. Once you stop taking the antibiotics, stop taking the saccharomyces boulardii and it clears your system completely. Antibiotics can do enormous damage to our immune and gastrointestinal systems, and its good to have something to help reduce their toxic effects. This is one of the most incredible products I have encountered. You can do a search on google to find out more about it. The best quality product I know of is from Allergy Research Group - www.nutricology.com
