Aaron Sorkin gave us Space Squid

Catching up on Sports Night, tonight, we were watching the season two episode "The Sweet Smell Of Air", only to discover that Aaron Sorkin has been writing hardcore SF all along...

Isaac is reading what appears to be a copy of Discover, and starts rhapsodising to Dana about the exploration of the solar system - and the fact that squid will be genetically engineered to act as mules and the like for space explorers.

It's a romantic thought, him sat by a fire, out in space, with his faithful space squid by his side...

(Must be getting on for one of the first references to space squid...)

The Wingspan Of The Quotidian Angel

Sunset at the Angel Of The North.

I couldn't help but think of Paddy McAloon's "I Trawl The Megahertz" while standing here.
