It's a little, err, dead. About 50 million years dead...

(Not a photograph - I actually stuck it on the bed of the scanner and I was quite surprise how well it came out!)

Do you know what species?

I have one much like it, though a different skull morphology. I bought mine at Dinosaur Ridge in Colorado. Where'd you get yours?

That is a most excellent fossil fish. I don't know enough about fish fossils to even guess what it might be, but a lot of this stuff comes from a jurassic seabed range in Brazil. I have one, which is somewhat incomplete, but it's interesting because it's preserved in 3D, and you can even see some of the internal structure.
