I had two shots - but used the one with the BA 747-400 for you :-)

Is it possible to get a shot of that view without a plane on it somewhere?

Yes, if you time it right...

...or if it's an east wind.

That'll be an Untied plane, with Ma in charge. So I suspect it starts with N, not G !

Nope, look closely - definitely a BA 747-436 with a tartan tailfin. You can see the company logo quite clearly towards the front, and the position of the white 'threads' in the tartan is quite distinctive.

She's right. It was BA!

United very rarely fly 747 into Heathrow, and they have a very different fuselage strip...

What do they use these days - 777s? The one and only time I flew United via Heathrow (to San Francisco), it was a 747-200 and it was white with a tri-colour stripe down it, which dates it somewhat.

Yup, triple-7s in that dark grey and blue colour scheme...

All I can say is that I hope you have the windows installed (dormer or flush with the roof?) before it next rains.

It occurs to me that if you're that close to the Heathrow approach path, the fact that you now have two holes in your roof must mean that it's a bloody sight noisier than normal. I wouldn't be able to concentrate -- even on reviewing an iron!
