... and your first specimen is a lovely Aulacopleura konincki from the Lodenice Silurian deposits in the Czech Republic.

(A wonderful web resource for all things trilobite)

I spent 30 minutes or so lurking in a jewelry store in Denver last week. They had trilobites inlaid in silver on chains and ready for display. Lovely.

i have this wonderful stone bowl I found in Brighton a couple of years ago, which contains a small death assemblage of some beutiful trilobites - including one in the centre that must have inspired the Shadow ships in Babylon 5 (I always saw the Shadows themselves as Hallucigenia - which always made me wonder how much of Eon and Eternity JMS had read, as they shared so many characteristics with the Jarts).

Great site! I misread the URL at first as Order Soft Trilobites (instead of Orders Of Trilobites) and thought "Ooh, that'll do for [livejournal.com profile] major_clanger for Christmas..."
