Keeping taking the Tablets

A couple of useful Tablet PC links for the day, along with one for Firefox.

First, if you've switched to using OneNote as your default note taking tool (and if you're using Windows and Office, why aren't you using it?), and have lots of old Journal files around, here's a simple and quick way of converting them to OneNote entries.

Second, here's an interesting looking application out of Microsoft Research. InkSeine is a pen-oriented note taking application that's being used as a UI test bed. I rather like the radial menu concept - I suspect it's one that will translate well into touch interfaces as well as working with pens.

Finally, one of my favourite Firefox extensions has just made it to the Mozilla Recommended Add-ins page. Congratulations to sethop and the rest of the folks at Interclue. A truly useful piece of code from one of my favourite places.

OneNote is the first MS Office application I've liked since... hm... Word for Windows 2.0c, I think. It "just works" in the same way that a decent hardback notebook does, and is absolutely fantastic for researching, capturing, taking notes in meetings, jotting down ideas and maintaining the sort of information that really should be in a PIM if anyone had written a decent PIM since Lotus Agenda. The only WIBNIs with it is that I wish it was a bit cleverer at automatically creating links between notebooks, sections and pages, and it'd be fantastic if it had something like MathCad built in... ;)

I spend more screen time at work in front of OneNote than anything else (followed by Gvim, Word, Visio and Outlook) and it is an incredibly comfortable place to think.

Indeed. I started using OneNote 2003, but OneNote 2007 is just an amazing tool, it _just_ works. The ability to cross link Notes from Appointments and Contacts is just brilliant as is the simple method of creating tasks.

It's making my post MWC life much easier.

Now all I need to do is get a better laptop.
