The same property company has made a number of different proposals for the redevelopment of the site over the past ten-fifteen years, but none of them got any further than the proverbial drawing board. I may be excessively cynical but, given that record, I wouldn't be surprised to see this new plan evaporate into the ether.
And if you look closely at the new plan, parts of it appear distinctly unworkable. All that new housing and shops -- but no transport links save for a proposed pedestrian bridge to Pimlico. Not reality-based, as a neocon policy wonk might say....
