SF writer photographs lightning strinking tree...

Marc Laidlaw is a very, very lucky man indeed. To be that close to a lightning strike, and to capture this image...

Ooh, unearthly. It's so difficult to know whether that is PotatoShopped, but I am fascinated by the idea of being so close to something so primeval...

I'd guess it's real, but what would cause the shadow of the trees? The cameraman jumping, (so not really there), or what?

I'm guessing the shadow is projected on rain or fog.

What a gorgeous, glorious picture!

But there's two (at least) shadows, the obvious one and one close to the tree. Guess there could've been two bursts of light from two different spots at almost the same time.
