Then there was the ladies' downstairs from the Spanish Hall in the Winter Gardens. After negotiating the winding staircase, you find yourself in a vestibule. The toilets themselves are through the door to your left, but this room is the notable part. It's not the decoration, which is unremarkable, but the furnishings - a table, some chairs, and best of all - two full length, free-standing mirrors in a carved wooden frame, positioned at right angles to one another.
The Feuars Arms in Kirkcaldy has a remarkable Victorian gents, but you will need a guide to find this wonderful little alehouse...
