There are learning experiences, and there are learning experiences. The other weekend, stood on the marble terraces of the Getty Center, high above Los Angeles, we watched a young raptor getting one of the latter.

I've always been amazed by the number of crows in the hills around LA. They've found a niche up there, and huge flocks of them fill the trees high over Mullholland, freefalling their way through the world. You'd have thought that the local raptor population would have learnt to stay away, but no, a young bird, not fully fledged yet, had managed to barge into the middle of one of these flocks, and trying to spiral out of reach was being mobbed by fifty or so crows...

I had my camera to hand, with the long lens, and in amongst my pictures of the mob, I found this image:

Mob Justice

I suspect it got away, as a few minutes later the crows flapped slowly back to their trees.
