Three Days In May
Back in May we drove the length of the Blue Ridge Parkway, from just north of Lexington in Virginia all the way down to the Great Smokies in North Carolina. It's a long road, 470 miles at 40 miles an hour, avoiding Harleys as we went...
It's one of those classic American drives, winding its way along the spine of the Blue Ridge Mountains, through forest and heat (and agricultural land), right through the heart of the rural USA. The scenery is spectacularly beautiful, especially in spring, as the colours of the fresh leaves change with altitude - green in the valleys, to the pink of fresh budded leaves in the highlands.
I'm finally getting round to uploading my images from the trip to Flickr, so here are a few landscape views from overlooks we stopped at on the drive down the Blue Ridge.
