Ooops - I missed my 4000th post. These blogiversaries catch up on you so fast...
...in which case, here's a photograph that manages to capture several of my obsessions in one go.
Food. Wine. Textures. Rusted metal. Interesting typography. Sky. Branches. The bright winter light of central California. Funky t-shirts.
Farmstand 46 is a wonderful deli on the outskirts of Paso Robles, on the Paso to Cambria stretch of the road that runs through the heart of the wineries. Specialising in local ingredients (and with its own market garden for the salads) it makes some of the best sandwiches I've had. It's also attached to one of our favourite wineries, Four Vines, home of the remarkable Cypher Portugeuse-style blend and the down and dirty Biker zin. What's not to like? Especially when you can sit outside with a warm sandwich, bask in the sun, and watch the local red-tailed kites circling above.
