So there I was, sat in the crowds at the opening keynote for CES 2009. Steve Ballmer was on stage, selling Microsoft like only he can, when he stopped to run a video.

The spotlights went down, the screens at the side of the stage lit up, and a procession of Windows devices flashed onto them. The main screen was still on, showing a list of company names - and there was Ballmer, standing silhouetted against the bright background.

I raised my camera.

There's something about the high desert lands of Utah and Arizona that makes me think of U2 - and especially their Joshua Tree album. Every now and then you see something that matches the epic scope of that record.

Driving across from Moab to Canyonlands, we stopped in a turnout to read some National Park information. Across the road stood (only just) an old tin church, rusting gently in the desert snow. The cold of the desert winter drove us back into the car, and on into the park, but not before I took a picture.

There was something very Anton Corbijn about the church, something that cries out for additional processing when I get back to my big screen and Photoshop. In the meantime, here's the image:
