Falcon 1 makes orbit

One of the highlights of the year is Mark Anderson's excellent FiRe conference in San Diego. It's there that we first met Elon Musk, the only man I know with a leased Pacific island, his own space programme, and minions employees in jumpsuits. No fluffy cat, but give him time...

Late last night UK time his Falcon I rocket made orbit for the first time.



It's even more impressive when you realise that was only the fourth launch, and the total investment to reach orbit was only $120 million.
