JJ Allaire (Jeremy's brother, and one of the authors of Cold Fusion) is now at Microsoft. He's just announced the public beta of Windows Live Writer, a WYSIWYG blogging tool for use with many different blogging clients:
Writer is a great client for Windows Live Spaces but also works with other weblogs including Blogger, LiveJournal, TypePad, WordPress (and many others).
Writer supports RSD (Really Simple Discoverability), the Metaweblog API, and the Movable Type API.
We want Writer to work well with every blogging service out there. If you can’t get Writer to work with your blog, we want to know.
I've just downloaded the tool and am trying out right now. So far so good...
Now to click "Publish" and see what happens!
(A little finger trouble there when I thought I was deleting the local copy and went on to delete the online version. Oops. Lesson learnt! There are also some interactions with LJ and its HTML formatting tools that don't quite work... Still, it's only beta and I can report the bugs)
