Snow Fox

A 'silver phase' red fox wandering off into the snow, near Paradise on Mount Rainier.

The name refere to the charcoal coloring of its fur. The gray and black fur mixed with the redder fur is normal for the red fox population on the mountain, and the colouration doesn't change from season to season.

...this time a rather beautiful Steller's Jay posing on a snowbank.

A wonderful blue colour that stands out in the winter mountain landscapes. Look out over the hills and trees, and catch a flash of iridescent blue from the corner of your eye.
