My baby's all growed up...

Not only has it got lottsa bandwidth, it's finally been slashdotted!

I remember being at one end of a 64Kbps line in a brewery in Shepton Mallet, setting up its first public dial-in modems...

Bad news for London SF readers...

New Worlds will be closing at the end of March.

Murder One has to move (as a result of the redevelopment that's going to destroy Chinatown), and the new premises don't have enough space, and unfortunately it's the SF that has to go.

GIPpage: The placard cats

One of my favourite comic strips is the surreal, subversive and downright cynical Sylvia, which occasionally features these, err, inquisitive cats (and their off-screen victim, the dog Ralph), along with the placards they use for communication.

As they say, "Science is messy..." "But we persevere."

I think that's a message we can all take home tonight.

This has got to be a spoof...

...hasn't it? It appears to be from The Watchtower, but the theology seems pretty suspect.

Still, perhaps there is a bright side:
Are we not grateful for this insight on God's viewpoint regarding such matters? True worshippers follow closely God's mandates on cleanness to their eternal benefit! Sister N.K. from Virginia, U.S.A. tells us that since getting rid of her cat, she has not had to be preoccupied with cleaning the litter box or wasting valuable time better spent pursuing kingdom interests with the burden of purchasing cat food. This has allowed her to become a full-time pioneer; she finds that it is now easier to meet her allotted hours in field service. Godwin, a brother from Sierra Leone, puts it this way: 'I'm so grateful that God's organization is kept clean! It has freed me from the burden of owning a cat and all the spiritual pitfalls and financial commitments that go with it. I hope all the brothers will realize how the Devil subtly uses cats to corrupt and distract us from the disciple-making work.' (Matt. 24:14). What fine examples of faithfulness!
