Google recently added another string to its bow when it bought
Picasa - an iPhoto-like tool for Windows PCs. It'll search and catalogue your images, and sort them into a timeline, so you get to see them in the order they were taken - and sorted into albums based on the directories you use. It'll catalogue images as soon as they're loaded onto your PC, and also gives you basic image editing features.
