Kate Worley, writer of the wonderful Omaha The Cat Dancer (among many other excellent works) died over the weekend. She had been ill for a long time.

She will be missed.

Another piece of the future finally arrives, in the shape of eMachineShop.

Just make up a hardware design in the free CAD software (which also handles pricing), and then upload it to the site, where its shop of CNC machines do the work, before the final hardware is sent to you. It'll handle a wide selection of different machining types and materials.

Just think of it as a big printer that takes a while to send you your printout...

We won tickets to go see Peter Gabriel in the round at Wembley Arena last night.

It was one of the best big concerts I've been to, mixing old and new songs (including a dramatic "Here comes the flood" and an elegiac "Signal to noise") with a wonderful atmosphere and powerful visuals - and a wacky sense of humour that involved lots of big toys.

I took along a little camera, and came up with a handful of decent flash-free images.
