Walking into Putney yesterday I was passed by a jogger, wearing what I felt was a rather inappropriate T-shirt, if a little on the funny side...

It was advertising Imodium.

I thought that was suppposed to stop the runs?

Just testing out Hblogger, a LJ client for PalmOS devices. Could be a reasonable tool for on-the-road blogging...

Claridge's is perhaps best known for its famous Grill. However, I'd like to use it as an example of one of London's hidden architectural treasures: the opulent Victorian and Edwardian Gent's lavatory.

Descend the stairs from the gentlemen's cloakroom into the hidden sanctum. Here we have a mosaic floor, surrounded by exquisite Edwardian tiling, and the finest examples of Staffordshire porcelain. Dark woods frame the mirrors and sinks, while wooden cabinets hide the shapely water closets. Even the seats have little touches - brass handles to help lift them. A cast concrete shoe shine rest completes the ensemble.

Perhaps not as fine as the toilets in the Princess Louise in Holborn, but an excellent example nonetheless.

I had to have a go at the Star Estimator...

And this is what I came out as... Dustin Hoffman, Mark Dacascos or Russell Crowe...

So I'm a hunk. Rar!

I was at the House of Parliament last night for the launch of Zope UK, where we'd been invited by an ex-colleague of [livejournal.com profile] marypcb. We'd arranged to meet him in the Red Lion on Whitehall before the event, along with some of his colleagues. A couple of the folks in the pub were wearing badges, with the name of a company that [livejournal.com profile] lproven will be very familiar with...

One of the names was familiar - it was the real-world name of someone I've known online through CIX and IRC for several years. So I asked him if he was the person in question... To be honest it was something of a long shot - for one thing the person I know lives in Japan, and has a fairly new baby, so was unlikely to be in the UK....

The chap did the most amazing double take. Turned out he was who I thought he was. And so, after we'd finished our beers, we had all had a jolly good time over the rather excellent House of Commons claret...
