So the Island Herd is being reduced (20% gone so far this year) and they're thinking about allowing the importation of genetic material. It's another example of the decline of traditional farming back home...

So it's goodbye today to the good old directory enquiries number we've known and loved for 46 years.

And we have to say hello to a deregulated farrago of companies with a myriad different confusing pricing schemes and plans (and heaven help you if you're trying to call one of the wireline services from a mobile number). Maybe we're just better off using the free service on BT's web site...

I guess we're going to be stuck with those blasted runners, now, too...

The BBC will be launching a Creative Archive, giving everyone full access to the BBC's TV and radio archives.

"Mr Dyke said on Sunday that everyone would in future be able to download BBC radio and TV programmes from the internet.

The service, the BBC Creative Archive, would be free and available to everyone, as long as they were not intending to use the material for commercial purposes."

Excellent news, in a world where content providers seem to want to close everything off, not open it out...
