A festival of european comic strips
16-18 May at the Institut Français
Come meet masters of French and Belgian comic strips (Sat 10.45 on): Hermann (whose popular serie, Jeremiah, was made into a film last year by the BBC) will talk about his life dedicated to "Bandes dessinées" Boucq (author of colourful and sarcastic character Jérôme Moucherot) along with fellow artist Makyo will discuss with Paul Gravett on how to create a hero. Posy Simmonds will be there as well as 5 other female artists to discuss the way women see and express themselves in comic strips.
Animations:
First screening of Corto Maltese in the UK. Animation based on HugoPratt's book (Sat)
René Laloux's animations: the Wild Planet and Time Masters (Sun)
Or just come between the 8th and the 27th of May and enjoy the Belgian
comic strips exhibition in the foyer...
