...record this: His Dark Materials. The whole of Philip Pullman's wonderful trilogy is being dramatised for Radio 4...

Broadcast dates are the 4th, 11th and 18th of January 2003.

and if you haven't yet read the books, DON'T go and read Simon's link. The BBC have given away a hugely important plot line in that article :(

I read the books, but I didn't really get that into them. I suspect because I found the religious stuff offputting.

Should work well on radio, I think.

I enjoyed the first in the series, but do think it was all downhill from there. And the allegory was a bit heavy-handed - which would have been forgivable, had the writing been better.
